SV2G invite to mark the 70th anniversary of the Commonwealth

Commonwealth Theme 2019: ‘A Connected Commonwealth’

SV2G were honoured to have been invited with students from the School of Steelpan to attend the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey on the 11th March 2019. The service is the largest annual inter-faith celebration in the UK. It is usually in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, the British Prime Minister (or a representative), the Commonwealth Secretary-General, High Commissioners, Ambassadors, Commonwealth dignitaries and approximately 700 UK school children.

The Service features a mix of testimonies, readings and musical performances from talented artists across the Commonwealth and will reflect the 2019 Commonwealth theme of, A Connected Commonwealth. A new theme is chosen annually for Commonwealth Day, and as a focus for activities undertaken during the ensuing year led by the Governments of Commonwealth member states and by Commonwealth organisations.

As a connected Commonwealth we collaborate by varied means in ever closer accord around the shared values and principles of the Commonwealth Charter.
